Who are we?
How do each of us belong?
Do we feel welcome and included here?
How do we build a stronger community together in Rochester?
These are some of the questions raised by the TOWN CUBE, a public installation that will be presented at the PlaceMakers Rochester Prototyping Festival 2016. The installation will feature photos of community members and messages responding to these and other questions. The images and messages will appear on a 3D screen made up of rotating boxes.
At its heart the TOWN CUBE prototype is about holding space for individuals and communities in our city who are often underrepresented, while inviting all of us to share our personal thoughts on identity and belonging in Rochester. A radical committment to inclusion, diversity, and social justice are vital to the health and sustainability of our growing community.
Follow us on Facebook and Instagram and check back here on our website for a slideshow of images collected throughout the festival in September!
A brief translated description of the prototype project is available on this site in Spanish, Somali, Hmong, and Arabic *.
(* These are some of the commonly spoken languages in our community. We're in the process of refining these translations to make the protyping project more inclusive and accessible. Please let us know if you have any better translations or corrections you'd like us to make!)
